The plot
thickens….
In part two Ellen Dean, the housekeeper of Thrushcross Grange, begins her
story of the arrival of the gypsy boy Heathcliff at the heights. She tells
how Catherine’s elder brother, Hindley, dislikes him. When their parents
die, Hindley returns with a new wife to become master of the Heights. He
degrades Heathcliff, making him live outdoors, yet Catherine and
Heathcliff grow inseparable. Catherine is injured near the Grange, where
she remains with the Linton's until fully recovered. She returns home
transformed into a refined young lady. Heathcliff, humiliated swears
revenge on Hindley. A year latter, with his wife Frances dead., Hindley
turns to drink….
